Tour 2: Pamir – Roof of the World
Duration: 8 days
In short: Dushanbe – Kalai Khum – Khorog – Langar – Yashil Kul Lake – Bulunkul Lake – Murgab – Khorog – Kalai Khum – Dushanbe
Day 1: Dushanbe – Khoburubot – Kalai Khum
Welcome to travel in Tajikistan. You will be met by the driver who accompanies you to Kalai Khum village through mountain road. The tour will pass by the driving over high Khoburubot Pass of 3 252 m and also known as Western Pamir Tract. This road is considered to be wonderful passing by magnificent river valley and gorges. It is the best idea to take beautiful photos. On the route you will see small remote villages and get acquainted with locals. Tajik people are very kind and hospitable. You will get know about their culture and traditions. The nature of Tajikistan is truly amazing thus you will be inspired by exotic landscape and background of evergreen valleys. The night will be spent in the hotel.
Day 2: Kalai Khum – Khorog
Having a hearty breakfast we will start our tour driving to Khorog. It is one of the smallest cities in world map and surrounded by rocky mountains form all four wings. This city appeared on the confluence of the 3 rivers where Shokhdara river and Ghund river flow into Pyanj river. In the tour to Khorog you will meet Pamir people. It is important to note that anthropological features made the Pamir people to be far from the Tajik people. You will see Pamir people with blonde hair, fair skin and blue eyes. They are especially beautiful. Moving on you will learn that Pamirs Mountains are considered to be the highest mountains in the world with human population after the Himalayas in Tibet. Mountainous life changed traditions of local people from Tajik people. Today you will have the night in a guesthouse.
Day 3: Khorog – Langar
We are glad to present today’s tour of driving via Tajik-Afgan border to Langar village. In the course of tours in Tajikistan you will find it in Asia. The Pamirs are magnificent beautiful with blue sky, endless roads as well snowy tops and valleys. Wonderful lakes as well as rivers will fascinate you with dry desserts on its way. Before long time ago people used to call these mountains “the Roof of the World”. You will learn more about it in the tour in Tajikistan. The land of celestial Pamirs is located at elevations from 3 500 to 4 200 meters above sea level. There are ancient people who used to live and develop their culture. After that some communities decided to separate mountain ranges. Thus how different dialects appeared. Overnight will be in a homestay.
Day 4: Langar – Yashil Kul Lake – Bulunkul Lake – Murgab
Today you will start the tour to Murgab city. Tajiks say: “if you travelled in Tajikistan and didn’t visit Murgab, it means your holidays were here in vain”. On the route you will drive by Naizatash pass which is 4 137 m. There are unique landscape of Murgab which include a lot of peaks which are over 6 000 meters above sea level. Some people compare Murgab with the Moon, due to its surface. It is really beautiful. This place is unique with incredible nature of God’s gift. The climate of Murghab city is almost Arctic. You may feel dry air, short summers, winters with rare snow but freeze. In general this city remains mysterious. The night will be spent in a guesthouse.
Day 5: Murgab – Yashil Kul Lake – Bulunkul Lake – Khorog
Today we will drive to the most beautiful lakes of the Pamirs as Yashil Kul and Bulunkul (Blue lakes). They are situated on the altitude of 3 700 meters above sea level near the Murghab district. The color of the Bulunkul lake is violet as well as dark blue depending on sunlight. There are no fish in the lake. On the route you will find a lot of domestic animals as yaks, cows, and sheep. They reproduce wool, milk and meat. Then we will drive over Naizatash pass of 4 137 m. Being there you will take wonderful photos and enjoy landscape. In the second half of the day we will drive to Khorog along Pamir Highway, also known as M41 Pamir Tract. You will be impressed by the second highest mountain road after highway of Tibet. It lies on the elevations of more than 4 000 meters above sea level. Overnight will be spent in the guesthouse.
Day 6: Khorog – Kalai Khum
The next day will pass by visiting Khorog to Kalai Khum. You will see high rocky mountains of over 6 000 meters. There is only one road which was built. On the way of driving through the Pamirs, travellers will enjoy not only the virgin nature as well as learn more about ancient history of mountain dwellers. You will get know more about its events. In addition you may meet local families and find nomadic lifestyle. There are remote villages will not leave anyone indifferent. You will see people living near mountains in the remote valleys. Also you can see Afgan stony villages. The night will be in the hotel.
Day 7: Kalai Khum – Norak – Dushanbe
We will drive to Dushanbe city in the morning. You will cross by Afghanistan border. There is the highest point is Shuraba pass. It is 2 267 m. This road will inspire you by celestial mountains. It is important to note that this Territory of Pamir Mountains. The Pamirs impressed explores as Marco Polo, Hsuan Tsang, Mirza Muhammad Haidar and others. We will be glad to see you travelling here. There is the border of Pyanj River. Don’t miss to take amazing photos of it. Many travellers liked this giant mountain of white and blue colors. In addition you will see the famous Norak water reservoir or Tajik Sea. Overnight will be spent in the hotel.
Day 8: Dushanbe – Airport
