Cholpon
Hi, friends!
My name is Cholpon. I grew up in a small town of Naryn in the south-eastern part of Kyrgyzstan. From the early ages my passion was to travel and discover new places. I enjoyed showing around to my friends and teachers who came from abroad to teach English. Further I entered the University to study linguistics but to connect my life with tourism it was not enough. Therefore I went through special courses of guiding by local mentors in Bishkek who run tourist agencies. This is how I got involved into this world of adventures and new experiences.

Touristic season in Kyrgyzstan does not last long, even though it is possible to organize tours all year round. The highest peak gets on the warm period of the year. In this regard, there is a problem of personnel leakage in the tourism sector, namely of guides. To solve it, there were founded special guide courses in 2008 which are held every two years since then.
I am a teacher for young guides that want to join our Tourism World. We give them lectures and practical tasks too. They meet different lectors and visit the main highlights of Kyrgyzstan.
Lack of guides was one side of the issue; the other was that most of the active guides were mainly self-taught students studying linguistics at Universities. They normally did not possess sufficient information about the country, history, culture and others, on one hand, and did not know how to interact with customers and solve relevant issues during their tours, on the other.
So these courses which were licensed from the government worked out a program of necessary knowledge that tour guides must be savvied with. They contain numerous seminars, lectures from the advanced professors of history, geography, biology, numismatics, excursions to historical sites in and around Bishkek, museums, galleries, hiking tours to Ala Archa gorge, Kokorchek canyons and practical classroom lessons. Within a three-month education in our courses, students get everything from learning how to introduce themselves up to special tricks that help tourists feel happy and pleasantly surprised during their tours in Kyrgyzstan. After several tests and oral exam, we select the best students and send them with our groups as assistants to our main guides during tours.
I have graduated these courses in 2010 and worked as a guide for several years. From 2014 started to lead the practical part and monitor the courses. Thus, fulfilling the list guides in the country with a number of qualified, educated and enthusiastic young guides. I am a teacher on guide course and I like it very much! I want to do my best to make tourism in Kyrgyzstan better and better!
