Tour 4: Heart of the Great Silk Road
Duration: 20 days

In short: Ashgabat – Darwaza – Mary – Merv – Turkmenabat – Bukhara – Samarkand – Tashkent – Khujand – Dushanbe – Khoburubot – Kalai Khum – Khorog – Yashil Kul Lake – Bulunkul Lake – Murgab − Osh – Bishkek – Ala Archa – Almaty – Charyn Canyon – Almaty 

Day 1: Ashgabat
You will be met by the loсal guide at the Ashgabat International Airport and then transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, you will start the tour of visiting the Horse-farm. You will learn more about the Turkmen people and Akhal-Teke horses. Then you will have traditional tea break and Akhal-Teke horse show program where you can see the racks of horses. Further you will visit “Gypjak” Mosque and Mausoleum of the late President of Turkmenistan.  Afterwards you will return to Ashgabat. In the evening you will have a city tour. 

Day 2: Ashgabat – Darwaza – Ashgabat
Having a hearty breakfast you will visit the “Old Nisa”. It is the Sanctuary of Parhian Kings (UNESCO site). The next tour is the State Museum of History. It has artifacts of the settlements Nisa, Merv and Gonurdepe, collection of vintage Turkmen carpets, rare examples of national clothing, jewelries, and antique weapons. In the afternoon you will drive to the North of Turkmenistan in order to see the Gas Crater – Darvaza. It is located to the North of Ashgabat. You will have a break in a small nomadic village. In the evening you will have a chance to see the magical view of the gas crater. Return to Ashgabat.

Day 3: Ashgabat – Mary
After breakfast we will have the tour of travelling to Mary. On the way you will visit the Anau pilgrimage place (remains of Seyitjemaleddin mosque XV c). There are the ruins of Abiverd medieval city which was a trading town of North Khorasan. In Mary you will check in hotel. In the evening you will have a short walking around the city center. Night is in hotel.

Day 4: Mary – Merv – Turkmenabat – Uzbek-Turkmen border ‘Farap/Alat’ – Bukhara
Today you will drive to Mary Historical Museum and then Old Merv – Merv. It is located at the road crossing of the Great Silk Road and later became one of the largest and biggest cities of the ancient world. Afterwards you will have a guided tour where you can visit Gyz Gala, Erk Gala, Soltan Gala, Sanjar Mausoleum, Ibn Zeid Mausoleum. Further you will drive to Turkmenabat city and move to Turkmen-Uzbek border Farap/Alat (Uzbekistan).  You will meet the group at Uzbek side of the border and drive to Bukhara. Overnight is in a hotel.

Day 5: Bukhara
Today you will have a city tour in Bukhara. Visit the most ancient citadel in Bukhara as Citadel Ark (4th century). It was the main place of Bukhara Empire. After that you will visit Samanids mausoleum and continue your route to Chashma Ayub (Job's well). On the way you can visit Bolo-Hauz mosque famous for its forty columns built in honor of Bukhara governor Abu-Fayud Khan. Don’t miss the chance of walking to souvenir shops.  Further visit one of the most famous madrasahs of Bukhara called Nodir Divan Begi which is also a part of Lyabi House Ensemble and to end the tour visiting Poi Kalon complex. It is very beautiful architectural art of Bukhara. It has three structures built in the 12th - 16th centuries as Kalon minaret, Kalon mosque and Mir Arab Madrasah. We have no doubt you will like it. Overnight is in a hotel.

Day 6: Bukhara – Samarkand
Today you will have a city tour in Bukhara. We would like you to visit the Bahauddin Naqshbandi complex. It is located few in kilometers from Bukhara and considered to be a memorial complex of famous Sufi Leader and Philosopher. It is the Muslim pilgrimage places of Islamic world. Then visit the Sheikh Bakhauddin Nakshbandi which was one of the unworldly masters of Amir Timur. It consists of mosques of Kushbegi and Muzafarohana. There are courtyard with pool, madrasah, and burial vault of Bukhara rulers and Dakhma upon the tomb of Saint Bakhauddin Nakshbandi. After that you can visit the residence of Bukhara Emirs − Sitorai Mohi Hosa complex. There are different kind of shapes and arts. Emir named for his wife who died young “Star − like and moon − like Palace”. Afterwards is transfer to Samarkand. Today you will spend the night is in a hotel.

Day 7: Samarkand
Samarkand is a stunning city situated in the valley of the river Zerafshan as well as the second largest city of Uzbekistan like Babylon or Rome. The day will start by visiting the main parts of city as Registan square, Shakhi-Zindeh, Mausoleum Guri Emir and Bibi Khanum Mosque. Registan Square is the famous site of Samarkand which has three wonderful Madrasahs found in the 15th -17th centuries. Shakhi-Zindeh is another site that has a big collection of mausoleums found in the 11th-15th centuries and later became a part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bibi Khanum Mosque is must be visited among travelers and built in honor of favorite Tamerlane’s wife, after his successful trip in India. Overnight is in the hotel.

Day 8: Samarkand – Tashkent
You will transfer to Tashkent in the morning. Visit the Independence square where placed a symbol of victory over fascism in World War II. After that you will walk along the local Broadway. It is situated between independence square and Amir Timur square. After that you will visit the Tashkent metro. We have no doubt you will like it. The first line was opened in 1977. After that you can visit the old part of the city as Chorsu Bazaar, Kukaldash Madrasah and Hast Imam which is famous for its several madrasahs, mosques and mausoleum. The most importnat highlight that must be visited is the Othman Quran. It is the world’s oldest Quran copy found in the 8th century. The sacred Quran belonged to Othman Ibn Affan, the Third Caliph (of the four righteous Caliphs who succeeded the prophet Muhammad). Over the time, Othman was killed by non-muslims people in the 8th century. His sacred blood is over the Quran. You can see it on its pages. Night is in a hotel.

Day 9: Tashkent – Uzbek border – Khujand
Today you will transfer to Oibek border check point. You will be met by Tajik driver who accompany you to Khujand city (second largest city of Tajikistan). This wonderful city is situated on the Syr Darya River at the mouth of the Fergana Valley. The population of the city is about 149,000. In addition to this it is the capital of the northernmost province of Tajikistan − called Sughd. In the second half of the day you will visit a Cultural Palace of Khujant where the first president of Tajikistan took place. Don’t miss to visit the Central Mosque. It is situated in the middle of the city. The night will be spent in a hotel.

Day 10: Khujand – Dushanbe
Today you will drive to Dushanbe city. You will drive over Anzob pass of 3 372 m and tunnel of Isticlol. There are wonderful panorama views. On the way you will have the opportunity to take wonderful photos and enjoy the scenery of Tajik mountains. Afterwards is arrival to Dushanbe.  Night is in a hotel.

Day 11: Dushanbe
The day will start by having a guided tour. Visit Rudake Park, National library, White House, National state seal and House of parliament. Then you can walk in National park where you can make photos of Ministry of Inner Affairs and the biggest National Flag in the world of about 165 m high pole, 30 m wide, 60 m long. We will continue our route visiting Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments. Don’t miss to visit the famous Asian bazar. There are a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. On the way you will be told about Tajik people and their culture. Overnight is in a hotel.

Day 12: Dushanbe – Khoburubot – Kalai Khum
We will drive to Kalai Khum village via mountain road in the morning. The road will go over high Khoburubot Pass of 3 252, also known as Western Pamir Tract. You will have opportunity to enjoy wonderful view of terrain and take vibrant photos. There are mountains as well as rivers. In addition you will meet locals and learn more about their culture and traditions. The trip will amaze you by landscape and unique nature. We have no doubt you will like your travels here.

Day 13: Kalai Khum – Khorog
We will drive to Khorog in the morning. It is one of the tiniest cities on the map of the world which is surrounded by rocky mountains from all four wings. The town appeared due to the confluence of the 3 rivers where Shokhdara River and Ghund River flow into Pyanj River. On the way to Khorog you will meet Pamir people. They are very hospitable and peaceful! Today you will spend the night in a guesthouse.

Day 14: Khorog – Yashil Kul Lake – Bulunkul Lake – Murgab
Today we will visit the most beautiful lakes of the Pamirs as Yashil Kul and Bulunkul (Blue lakes). They are situated on the altitude of 3 700 meters above sea level in the Murghab district. The color of water in Bulunkul is kind of violet and dark-blue in the sunlight. It depends on the temperature. There are a lot of species of fish in the lake. On the way you will have an opportunity to see yaks, domestic animals, cow and sheep. They produce meat, milk and wool. Then you will drive over Koitezak pass of 4 271 m. Overnight is in a guesthouse.

Day 15: Murgab – Osh
In the morning you will be transferred to Kyrgyz border Kyzyl Art. It is situated on the altitude of 4 336 m. You will be met by Kyrgyz driver and transfer to Osh city. You will pass by wonderful landscape and get inspiration of unique nature. Also you will drive over a high mountain pass – Taldik of 3 615 meters high! We are sure you will never forget this incredible trip! Your night will be spent in a hotel.

Day 16: Osh – Bishkek
Today you will have a city tour. Visit the most famous place as Suleiman Mountain. Suleiman Too or Solomon’s Mountain is situated in the center of the city. It is an important place for pilgrimage of Muslims. According to the legend, biblical prophet Solomon was buried at the foot of it. You will be told more about it. Then you can visit the Asian bazar. Being there you will be impressed by a big variety of goods. Night is in a hotel.

Day 17: Bishkek – Ala Archa – Bishkek
The first half of the day will be a guided tour of Bishkek. You will visit the Pobeda Square (Victory Square), Duboviy Park (Oak Park), Central Ala-Too Square, Old Square, National Philharmonic and other places. In the second half of the day we will drive to Ala Archa gorge. It is 45 km from the city. The Ala Archa gorge is on a spur of the Tien Shan mountain range and famous for its wonderful view. Being there you will have a chance for hiking as well as picnic.  You will be impressed by weather there. Afterwards you will return to Bishkek. The night will be spent in a hotel.

Day 18: Bishkek – Almaty
We will drive to Almaty in the morning. The distance from Bishkek to Almaty is 230 km. It will take about 4 hours. On the way you will pass a border control. Today you will have a city tour where you can learn more about history and development of the Southern capital of Kazakhstan.  There is no tour without visiting the Green Bazaar. It is a great idea to buy anything you want. There are a lot of oriental sweets and national items. After that you can visit Almaty parks as Panfilov Park as well as Zenkov Cathedral. Over the time you can visit the Memorial of Glory and Eternal Flame. It is made for the memory of the fighters who died for freedom and independence of the country. Don’t miss to visit the Medeo Gorge. It is famous for its highest mountain skating rink in the world. The next destination is the Kok-Tobe hill. You will be impressed by the tallest TV tower in the world and end the tour by the famous Almaty cableway. Transfer to hotel.

Day 19: Almaty – Charyn Canyon – Almaty
Charyn Canyon is one of the exclusive natural monuments of Kazakhstan. The canyon is about 12 million years old which was made wind, sun and rain. It will take about 3 hours to reach the canyon. On the way you will have the chance to learn more about its history and development. It is worth travelling here and to take vibrant photos. You can also see the beautiful panorama views. Travelers like visiting this place. We are sure you will remember this tour for a long time.

Transfer to airport in the morning.
